Vegetables and Garden Update

my little kitchen greenhouse. many a seedling was started here in this tiny space this summer. most of these plants were given to me by my grandpa stullken from florida.
i added two front beds to the outside of the garden for arugala and spinach. the arugala did great and was something tasty, the spinach didn't really sprout except for two little plants. i think i'll give it another go soon. i still have seeds.

the zinnias are here and blooming!

a moss rose. my favorite for this summer.

here's the herb bed. check out how those pole beans grew! the basil got huge too. we ate a lot of pesto dishes this summer. and really, we still are. tomorrow i think i'll make some to freeze.

squash from some friends in the oven.

Look at all these green beans from the garden! They were tasty.

Sky Diving

one time my crazy husband went sky diving. Here is he signing his life
away.

we waited for a good long while before his plane took off. and then he jumped out of it and landed safely. in one piece. sheeeewww. it was a fun day. he has a video of it and everything. maybe i'll see if i can post it on my blog.

the sister got my camera....

and strange things happened.

she is so beautiful. No really...she is. And, stunning actually. really, no really, she really is.

more cute beetle pictures

Saffron Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

we made this ice cream for a sunday night gathering of St. John's folks. it was SO GOOD but kind of crazy to make. I've never bought real saffron or vanilla beans before.

Faye and Lita

jeff took some pics of me and the little beetle. i liked them so i posted a few.

Cobbing with Clare and Jack

In late August Jeff and i took a trip over to athens to visit Josh and Clare and help with the cob. these pics were taken with the night vision setting of our camera on, so they come out very bluey. We had so much fun visiting with the Adams and getting a few batches of cob up on the walls of this wonderful new house they are building.

Garden Update

These are pictures of the garden when it was first planted.

behind the window in the front bed are marigolds and zinnias.

and then here is the squash which was so promising but then sadly declined with the arrival of the dreaded Squash Vine Borer. Tomatoes on the edge of the squash did fantastic though. They were heirloom boxcar reds. yum. they are still producing and it's october!

and there's the herb bed. i still have basil, oregano, chocolate mint, thyme, lime basil, lavender, ginger. There is a cherry tomato plant in the front corner next to the fence and pole beans in the back corner.

Flowers

donna also gave me gerber daisies for my birthday. i planted these in the front corner bed to help show off that stone wall that mom found!

some flowers i planted in one of the front beds. they grew so much over the summer!

Chess Breakfast!

Here are the pictures i took at Jeff's birthday chesst breakfast. we had it in august because that's when everyone could get together. we switched the furniture in the den and the dining room to make room for long tables for chessting. donna and i made omelets and lots of other yummy things.
