People we met!

We met these real nice people in Weiser. They've got 3 kids, chickens, bio diesel cars, and are about to build a strawbale house. Our new role models.

the indoor gardening begins

mom, these are for you. all the plants have come inside now...i had to squeeze them all together in the kitchen...but the avocado tree did find a nice home in the office!

Our Housesister

Jeff and i walked in the door today and donna sashayed to the door, took our bags and welcomed us home 1950's style in high heels, a polka dotted apron and syrupy smile. It was hilarous. here she is cooking dinner for us. and being ridiculous.

Friday Night Cuteness

This little one is Katie and Clay's Eula Beatrice. I think she has a little crush on Jeff.

Tallulah Falls

This weekend we were going to go visit Beth and Bryce and Eli in North Carolina but then all decided to cancel at the last minute due to the need to prevent the spread of pinkeye. Jeff and i decided to take a day trip to Tallulah Falls instead. We needed to get out of town one way or another. So we packed up dogs, tuna sandwichs and rain coats and headed up for the day. it was rainy but a really good trip anyway.

the leaves were real purty.

mmm, tuna.

the run!
the mom!

what a day. she finished in 5 hours and 51 seconds. she was tenth in her age group. what a stud.

plant swap, vegetables, sandwiches

a couple weeks ago i went to a plant swap with mom. her garden club put it on. i came home with some great plants. i'll take some pictures of them to post. here's mom and abe relaxing by the merchandise.
a family that has a big garden and chickens was there selling eggs and trying to give away this silkie...i'm sure if i'd already had chickens, i would have taken it!

snuggly dogs.

jeff and i are officially riding the green smoothie train in the mornings now. dad even likes them! (an apple, some pineapple, a few carrots, a minnela, frozen banana and lots of spinach or kale or lettuce). before:

i thought this picture made almond milk look scrumptous.

this mantis kept me company in the kitchen for a few hours one night while i cooked before it flew behind the stove. it thought he was a goner, but 3 days later, he showed up again. i strongly encouraged him to go find a nice perch on the basil outside, so he agreed and stayed there for a while. what a creature.

you would have used blueberries for eyes too, right?

sweet red peppers! like candy!

a little tomato endulgence.
farmers sandwichs (good bread, a little mayonnaise, caramelized red and vidalia onions, basil, sliced tomatos and farmers cheese, melted)

my favorite summer meal: the tomato sandwich.

i miss summer.
